Nina June (Corder) Brown, the daughter of Harold and Olive Corder, was born October 25, 1945 in El Dorado Springs, MO. June passed away on November 12, 2016 at Mercy Hospital (ICU) in Springfield, MO.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ted; one sister, Nancy Leonard; brother-in-law, Sam Brown and wife, Barbara; sister-in-law, Dana Brown; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a baby sister, Marilyn Joyce; and a brother-in-law, Cletis Leonard.

She graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1963; attended Southwest Missouri State College going on to receive her BSE at Central Missouri State, Warrensburg, MO in 1968. After graduation, June began her career as an elementary teacher in the Springfield Public Schools. She received two graduate degrees from University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and continued her rewarding teaching career of more than 36 years as a Professor in the Department of Education at Missouri State University and retired in 2004. After retirement, June and Ted enjoyed traveling together in both the United States and internationally.

June was a member of University Heights Baptist Church where she served as a teacher and as a member of many boards and committees. Her hobbies included: reading, scuba diving, and researching family genealogy.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at University Heights Baptist Church from 9:30-11:00 a.m. followed immediately by the memorial service in the church sanctuary. Burial will be at Eastlawn Cemetery, 2244 E. Pythian St., Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the University Heights Baptist Church Foundation, 1010 S.
