Leeman Alvis Kleier, 80, of Springfield, MO went home to his Lord on Thursday, August 3, 2017. He was born on Sunday, December 6, 1936 in Romance, MO to Luke and Flota Kleier. Leeman was one of four children including his twin brother, Freeman and two sisters, Wilda and Eileen.
He graduated from Seymour High School in 1955 and immediately began his 20-year career in the United States Air Force where he served in Vietnam and finished out his career with the 89th Airlift Wing on the Presidential Plane Crew at Andrews Air Force Base. Leeman retired from the UAF in 1975 and returned to Missouri with his family to begin a 20-year career with General Electric. Shortly after graduating high school he married Jean Elizabeth Hopkins on August 5, 1956 and to this union three sons were born. Leeman found joy in many things throughout his life. He reveled in having opportunities to talk to groups about his Air Force career. He had a love for woodworking that is evidenced by all the many woodcrafts displayed in thousands of homes of the people he graced them with. And he loved and served his church family at South Haven Baptist Church, especially his Sunday school class.
Leeman was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Wilda Kiskadden.
He is survived by his wife Jean Kleier of Springfield, MO, three sons Lee Kleier (wife Lorrie) of Willard, MO, Ken Kleier (wife Terali) of Columbia, MO and Paul Kleier (wife Jill) of Republic, MO, four grandsons, Chris, Michael, Josh (wife Jessie) and Levi Kleier (wife Amanda), one granddaughter Hannah Kleier, one brother Freeman Kleier (wife Carol) one sister Eileen McLean (husband Lloyd), his brother-in-law Richard Kiskadden and many more extended family members who loved Leeman dearly.
Military services will be conducted at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 2pm.
